“The concept of sketching designs was established around the late 1800s when design houses would hire artists to draw designs to be shown to clients (in this case individuals/customers). The design houses would work from the artists’ sketch to make clothing the client liked. This process saved money in the long run by introducing designs through illustration instead of showing a completed garment on a model to customers first.” – @IAm_Samata.
