OUT AND ABOUT: LAURA MVULA AT ROYAL ALBERT HALL & TEA AT THE ROSEBERRY

Laura Mvula teamed up with Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest to reimagine her Mercury-nominated debut, Sing to the Moon, at the Royal Albert Hall. Mvula was in perfect form, vocally and visually, later  joined on stage by Jazz denizen Esperanza Spalding. With the arrangements expertly conducted by Jules Buckley everyone had a great time at the show, but also the after-party (thanks to my sister for the hook-up). Tea at The Roseberry

Pulling together a set of friends for a ‘networking/meet new people/let’s just have fun’ gathering is always a good idea. Period. So when I received a sweet group email from my beautiful friend Taina which started out with the words ‘..You have been a group of inspiring and important people in my life, in different ways, during my job swap process, so I would like to celebrate it…‘ I was already on board. Plus, who would say no to Tea at The Roseberry which a bunch of interesting and dynamic women?  You never know which friends within your circle might connect and go on to help each other, so I happily coasted over to the Mandarin Oriental for an afternoon of treats.

The Mandarin Oriental offers a modern and stylish take on the ladies who lunch concept, providing the perfect backdrop for fashion-lovers. Our group was treated to aromatic teas (custard apple green tea, bombay chai black tea, heart of persia white tea to name a few), strawberry délice and green tea eclairs, a selection of sandwiches (optional: gluten free/wheat free), freshly baked scones and of course…plenty of champagne as we exchanged ideas, contacts and laughs.

P.S Taina works on this awesome fashion app called Depop, which allows you to easily sell your things by just taking a picture. It’s a smart way to recycle your wardrobe effortlessly so make sure you sign up. Depop recently reached 1 million users and we celebrated that landmark in style the other week.
