EATx Feeding the 9 Billion: Leveraging  Healthy Sustainable Diets for Climate Change Mitigation, Environmental Protection and Public Health Benefits at the UN Headquarters, NYC.

The reception was hosted by The EAT initiative, The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS), The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN),The Environmental Defense Fund and the The Avatar Alliance Foundation. The lively discussion focused on plant-based diets, sustainable food strategy and all that accompanies the challenges faced sustainably feeding a growing population – healthily – with finite and ill-distributed resources. Speakers included José Graziano da Silva, Director General, Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, Connie Hedegaard, Commissioner for Climate Actions, European Commission and Jeffrey Sachs, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on the Millennium Development Goals & Director of the Earth Institute, Columbia University.
