Despite the urgent need to bring greater DEI awareness to more people, it is important to acknowledge progress. It is heartening to see the growing interest in DEI amongst environmental organizations today. Now more than ever, organizations are taking unprecedented steps to discuss and teach DEI concepts; diversify their constituents; collaborate with communities of color and low-income communities; engage with professionals of color; organize DEI activities and participate in them; focus on wage inequalities and other forms of workplace discrimination; and examine the distribution of resources needed to help us all improve the environment.
The conference is an intimate space in which attendees identify and wrestle with the challenges facing the environment, conservation, and sustainability sectors.
