1ST MARCH, 2023 (LOS ANGELES): RCGD Global, official sustainability partner for The Academy and the writer of the Oscars sustainable red carpet style guide, will host their Pre-Oscars Annual Celebration in Hollywood, Los Angeles on Thursday 9th March.

Celebrating its thirteenth edition, this year’s event will be co-hosted by Suzy Amis Cameron, ‘YOU’ and ‘Uncharted’ star Tati Gabrielle, Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, ‘AVATAR’ star Bailey Bass, Sustainability Advocate and Entrepreneur Nikki Reed and RCGD Global CEO Samata Pattinson. The evening, held in partnership with long-term collaborator TENCEL™ and new partners Sustainable Apparel Coalition and VeriSwype, will include a very special tribute to the legacy of Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The dinner reception and cocktail event will take place in Hollywood with an exclusive live music performance. Following RCGD Global’s values and giving a nod to RCGD Global Founder Suzy Amis Cameron’s OMD campaign, a plant-based and locally sourced meal will be served.

It’s a true pleasure to be co-hosting RCGD Global’s Pre-Oscars event together with an amazing group of women who have been extremely supportive not only to our organization over the years but supporters of a better world. Our annual dinner reception is the perfect opportunity to share the knowledge and experiences gained over the past year and meet incredible people who are dedicated to making a difference in the fashion and film industry as well as to making a difference in their own lives and inspiring the rest of the world to do the same”. – Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder at RCGD Global.

We are really happy to be hosting our Annual Pre-Oscars event once more. To honor the legacy of one of the most influential and pioneering activists in the fashion industry Vivienne Westwood alongside some of our closest friends and ambassadors as co-hosts feels like a celebration like no other. Our collaborator since 2012 Vivienne Westwood has always been a true inspiration for us all and we aim to follow her mission of having a positive impact on society through fashion.” – Samata Pattinson, CEO at RCGD Global.

The celebration will take place ahead of the 95th Academy Awards ® where RCGD Global and TENCEL™’s 4th annual Oscar® partnership gowns will be unveiled on the red carpet. The collaboration produces occasionwear using renewable cellulose-based sources of 100% botanic origin. To qualify as a RCGD Global eco-conscious garment, each piece must be made from sustainable materials and focus on minimal negative impact on the environment and people.

We are once again honored to join hands with RCGD Global to host the Annual Pre-Oscars event. This is an incredible occasion to bring together talents, designers, partners and friends in the industry to celebrate the many milestones we have achieved together in bringing sustainability to the red carpet. I believe the partnership between TENCEL™ and RCGD Global will only continue to flourish, inspiring designers around the world to look for materials that not only appeal aesthetically, but also bring positive impact to our planet.” – Harold Weghorst, Global Vice President of Marketing and Branding at Lenzing AG.

About RCGD GLOBAL

RCGD Global is a women-led global change-making organization working from ‘moment’ to movement, bringing global cultural sustainability to the forefront of conversation and action within the fashion and design world. Celebrating its 14th year of the Red Carpet Green Dress campaign initiative at the Oscars, RCGD Global was initially conceived as a design contest by Suzy Amis Cameron (actress, environmental advocate, and author) when faced with the lack of ethical fashion choices while attending global premieres of husband James Camerons’ ‘Avatar’. The organizations’ work has since developed to include collaborations with global and small independent brands, partnerships delivering sustainable design solutions such as regenerative materials, educational work with the emerging design community – including workshops, internships and work experience, and international design contest initiatives. Alongside a consultancy offering, RCGD Global’s R & D division delivers thought-leadership work for the industry, working with leading institutions such as Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge and University of California, Berkeley.

RCGD Global works to draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in the design world and to be part of bringing those solutions to a global, culturally diverse market. Leading fashion houses including Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, Armani, Elie Saab, Swarovski, Christian Siriano, Bulgari, Dunhill and Reformation have joined the campaign to create sustainable red carpet wear. Celebrities including Sophie Turner, Laura Harrier, Emma Roberts, Marlee Matlin, Danielle MacDonald, LaKeith Stanfield, Camila Alves, and Naomie Harris have joined the campaign as representatives of its Oscars red carpet green dress initiative. RCGD Global’s work has been featured in VOGUE, Vanity Fair, W Magazine, People, The Hollywood Reporter, WWD, Washington Post, Harper’s Bazaar, Refinery29, The Guardian, ELLE, LA Times, The New York Times, Business of Fashion amongst others, across over 100 countries.

Helmed by CEO, Samata Pattinson, a prior winner of the Global Design Contest in 2011 with over a decade of experience, Red Carpet Green Dress unveiled its rebrand to RCGD Global in 2022, to fully encompass the multitude of spaces that the organization exists in with a focus on four core pillars:

> Collaborating with respected and mainstream platforms to foster sustainable conversations and action

> Developing accessible sustainable design solutions which create real effective change

> Being part of creating a more socially fair, equitable and representative industry

> Helping to find language to create change

About Sustainable Apparel Coalition

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an independent and impact-creating organization that aims to lead the industry toward a shared vision of sustainability based upon a joint approach for measuring, evaluating, and improving performance.

As a non-profit organization, it has members from across the apparel, footwear and textile sector, but exists independently outside any one company so that it can drive progress. The SAC’s collective action efforts bring more than 280 global brands, retailers, manufacturers, NGOs, academics and industry associations together. They represent about half of the apparel and footwear industry along the whole supply chain – from sustainability pioneers to organizations just getting started.

Before the SAC existed, companies worked in a siloed way, using their own programs and measurements that lacked standardization and an ability to drive collective action. In 2009, Walmart and Patagonia identified this as a serious problem. Joining forces, they brought together peers and competitors from across the sector, to develop a universal approach to measuring sustainability performance and founded the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
