MARCH 9th, 2023 (LOS ANGELES) —  Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global Pre-Oscars Annual Celebration of sustainable fashion returned to Los Angeles on the 9th of March. The highly anticipated evening in partnership with long term partner TENCEL™, leading textile fiber brand by Lenzing, and new partners Sustainable Apparel Coalition and VeriSwype brought together friends and supporters of the organization to promote sustainability advances over the past year within the design community, and to look ahead to new collaborations and activities that promote sustainable design choices.

Co-hosted by ‘YOU’ and ‘Uncharted’ star Tati Gabrielle, Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel, ‘AVATAR’ star Bailey Bass, Sustainability Advocate and Entrepreneur Nikki Reed and RCGD Global CEO Samata Pattinson, the evening included a very special tribute to the legacy of Dame Vivienne Westwood. Following Founder Suzy Amis Cameron’s OMD campaign, the meal served was plant-based and locally sourced.

As part of the tribute to Dame Vivienne Westwood, Tati Gabrielle read a quote from the iconic designer and wore one of her bespoke pieces that will be auctioned for The Vivienne Foundation. In addition, several Hollywood stars, including actresses Marlee Matlin and Priyanka Bose, RCGD Global Founder Suzy Amis Cameron and CEO Samata Pattinson came together to create a tribute film to Westwood which was screened during the celebration.

”Our Pre-Oscars Annual Celebration is one of my favorite evenings of the year as we gather friends, family and previous and current ambassadors for an evening of conversations, introspection and celebration. It is really enriching to hear what our community has to say during this event that is a melting pot of people from different cultures and experiences.” Suzy Amis Cameron, Founder of RCGD Global.

Attendees included: Tati Gabrielle, R’Bonney Gabriel, Bailey Bass, Chloe East, Nikki Reed, Ian Somerhalder, Paloma Garcia-Lee, Nico Greetham, Billy Zane, Elizabeth Rohm, Jeanell English and more.

“It’s been an honor having our co-hosts and ambassadors for this year’s edition with us tonight and being able to share one more year of work promoting sustainable fashion with our friends and family. We want to thank them all for their support, especially our long-term partner TENCEL™ and new partners Sustainable Apparel Coalition and VeriSwype.” Samata Pattinson, CEO at RCGD Global.

“It has been a privilege to partner with RCGD Global once again to bring together amazing talents, designers, and friends tonight. While we are proud to celebrate the many milestones we have achieved together in bringing sustainability to red carpets, we are also honored to pay tribute to fashion legend and pioneer of sustainable fashion, Dame Vivienne Westwood, who was a true inspiration for all of us at TENCEL™. Together with industry partners and talents, we hope to live up to her legacy by bringing positive impact to our planet through fashion,” said Harold Weghorst, Global Vice President of Marketing and Branding at Lenzing AG.

Tonight’s celebration took place ahead of the 95th Academy Awards ® this Sunday, where RCGD Global and TENCEL™’s 4th annual Oscar® partnership gowns will be unveiled. The collaboration produces statement looks using certified wood-based botanic fibers. To qualify as a RCGD Global eco-conscious garment, each piece should be made from sustainable elements –  including organic, recycled or repurposed materials. Other features include using hand-made craftsmanship details or small local production with a dedicated focus on minimal negative impact on the environment and people. The campaign focuses on social elements of sustainability including human resources, community impact, value cycle and legal frameworks. Ambassadors for the campaign this coming Oscar® Sunday include:

  • Chloe East
  • Additional names to be revealed on Oscar® Sunday, March 12th, 2023.

About Sustainable Apparel Coalition

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an independent and impact-creating organization that aims to lead the industry toward a shared vision of sustainability based upon a joint approach for measuring, evaluating, and improving performance.

As a non-profit organization, it has members from across the apparel, footwear and textile sector, but exists independently outside any one company so that it can drive progress. The SAC’s collective action efforts bring more than 280 global brands, retailers, manufacturers, NGOs, academics and industry associations together. They represent about half of the apparel and footwear industry along the whole supply chain – from sustainability pioneers to organizations just getting started.

Before the SAC existed, companies worked in a siloed way, using their own programs and measurements that lacked standardization and an ability to drive collective action. In 2009, Walmart and Patagonia identified this as a serious problem. Joining forces, they brought together peers and competitors from across the sector, to develop a universal approach to measuring sustainability performance and founded the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
