Ecos’ Traditional Green Chemistry and Its New Line of Baby Products
in

One of the things I’m happiest about within the growing array of conscious products is the appearance of more baby-focused items. I have a toddler around the house, and keeping him safe and raising him in a mindful environment are my top priorities in life. I’ve written a bit about sustainable baby toys and clothes, but it’s essential to me that I can also make sure to keep him safe and free of harmful chemicals at home, as much as possible.

Sustainable cleaning products have been around for a while, but I love seeing more items explicitly focused on baby care. The smaller the child, the less we know about their allergies, and the first couple of years can be critical to raising healthy humans. With this in mind, I discovered Ecos and fell absolutely in love with them.

Founded over 50 years ago, Ecos has been at the forefront of sustainable and affordable cleaning products for decades. A family-owned company, it was born in the 1960s from the mind of Van Vlahakis, a Greek chemist living in the States. After working in the cleaning industry and seeing the number of harmful substances in use, he created his own company based on a more natural approach. Remembering how his grandmother would keep their home pristine through the use of natural items like lemon and vinegar, Vlahakis set out to make safer cleaning products following her footsteps, creating more natural solutions for people, pets, and the environment. The company’s entire approach stems from the Mediterranean tradition, often deemed one of the most organically friendly in the world.

Green science stands at the core of Ecos, with four sustainable manufacturing facilities across the US. What’s more, the company goal is to make safe and affordable cleaning options while maintaining transparency in its processes. The ingredients they use are all plant-powered, and they’ve been working on being increasingly sustainable for many years. Over the years, Ecos has switched entirely to renewable energy, achieving what they call the “trifecta” of sustainable manufacturing: carbon neutrality, Platinum Zero Waste certification, and water neutrality. Ecos’ approach to safer cleaning has kept it relevant through the decades, particularly now, as an increasing number of people opt for more conscious lifestyles. Recently, the company launched a baby care line, consisting of specially formulated laundry detergents, dishwashers, and two cleaners, one for stains and odour removal and the other for baby toys and tables.

Small children are curious creatures that don’t realise the possible dangers of household items. A scary number of little ones get poisoned by harmful cleaning products every year, and having a home free of overprocessed chemicals is a necessity when there are small children in the house. As a plus, Ecos’ concoctions are also hypoallergenic, an essential quality in baby products.

We’re now raising the grownups of tomorrow, and a few critical responsibilities in that statement. Holding safe environments is the first basic need, but there’s also one of education. Having our children seeing their parents committed to finding environmentally friendly products will teach them from early on how important it is to surround themselves with ethical brands. And I, for one, am very proud to find gems like Ecos. Visit official website here.
